Last One Out The Window 12" Vinyl

£20.00

Not only the very long-lost and unreleased “Andi In A Karmann E.P.” but also another never-heard-or-released E.P. simply called…“The Gallery Tapes” - are now available on both vinyl & CD.

The Andi In A Karmann E.P. was originally recorded way back in 1990 but it got entirely vamooshed and lost to history when the label What Goes On, which were due to release it, suddenly went bust. So, (bar a few straggling test pressings - IYKYK) these recordings never actually went out. We just held on to the 2” Tapes, stuck them in the archive (dusty lock-up) and then went on to re-record the tracks all over again, which became the Is It Too Late E.P. But - these are the actual original and lost Andi recordings, which also feature three tracks that were never officially released: Tricia Don’t Belong, You Owe Me and Never Know Why.

The tapes have been expertly digitised from these master tapes and then Mr. Morgan Nicholls smuggled these *shits* into his hi-tech Decatone Studios, smashed away at them with his sonic spanners, squirted some WD40 over them and then lovingly remixed all six tracks from the ground up - a complete toes-to-teeth rebuild. These now just GLISTEN with all the aural excitement that every young teenage punk dreams off.

And that’s just Side 1! The flip-side of this disc is a whole ‘nother story.

While T-waxing the Andi E.P., Morgan also came across another, even rarer, gem - never released. Back in March 1988, when the band were aged just 16 years old (Ben - not counted) - not even old enough to ride a scooter, and still poncing cigarettes outside pubs - we were magically gifted a day inside a “proper recording studio”, via Morgan’s mysterious… “Uncle Trevor”.

This unexpected Golden Ticket gave us full access to a whole day’s recording in none other than Phil Manzanera’s (Roxy Music) “Gallery Studios”. A true and welcome gift to us back then.

We were however given strict instructions that there was only enough 2” tape to allow us to record four numbers, live - John Peel stylee - as that was as much as the available recording tape would allow.

But, as legend had it, we looked around then scurried into the corner - had a brief conference - returned, then announced “it’ll be fine”. We’d do five tracks, but just play them all a BIT FASTER. Seemed like a good plan to us. So we did, and they turned out great! A real “semi-pro” snapshot of the young, fierce band we were back then. We gathered up the precious recordings, placed them in a secure bag to take home and then…. we shelved everything again. The tapes probably got lost down the back of the sofa and were completely forgotten about.

However, now that they've been rediscovered next to a bunch of crisp packets in Morgan's basement, Nicholls has once again performed some time-travelling expertise on these and boosted up all the signals to return these recordings back up to full health and glory.

These are now featured for the very first time, and imaginatively titled… The Gallery Tapes”.

And those five scrappy punk-rock bangers make up Side 2 of this lovely, unique release. We’re really thrilled that these are finally seeing the light of day and sounding in such wild, untamed bloom.

Together, those two E.P.s have been collected and securely pressed into this true curio LP, the full track-listing being:
